We took the ferry over to San Juan Island and explored Lime Kiln Park

We also explored American Camp on San Juan Island

We even saw some orca whales from American Camp!

On Tuesday, we hiked around Moran State Park on Orcas Island.  We saw waterfalls on the first hike.

The second hike was around Mountain Lake.  Ellie hiked over 5 miles (and never even asked to be picked up once)!

Then we had dinner at one of our favorite spots -- Doe Bay Cafe.

No matter how hectic it is when you're trying to get out of town, the ferry ride signals that vacation has truly begun.  All that's left to do is enjoy and take photos.

Vashon Island

On Friday, Ellie and I ferried over to Vashon Island.  We met up with Kate and baby Addie for a day at the beach.  It has been a hot week in Seattle, so it was nice to be on and in the water.  Though, Ellie is not too keen about bits of seaweed brushing against her, so we were only about ankle-deep in the water ;-)  Ellie was very into the Olympics this past month, so she pretended driftwood was a balance beam. 

So hot we all had to jump in the lake.

This weekend was a great one.  Poppy came up for a few days of vacation and Daddy took off Friday afternoon.  Four days in a row, we went out on the boat to see the Blue Angels perform over lake Washington.  Saturday and today were pretty darn hot (90s today).  Ellie spent a lot of time in the pool (ps - she is now able to swim down to get rings at the bottom of the pool), and she jumped into Lake Washington with Daddy on Saturday and with ALL OF US today.  Someone may have pushed Poppy in the lake at one point -- see if you can guess who...

   

 

 

 

Remlinger Farms

Turns out Remlinger Farms is basically a mini-mini-state fair for kids under 6 years old.  Ellie and Quinn had a great time!  Ellie was very very excited that she drove a car for the first time ;-)
